Associate Account Executive
Tyler joined the Strauss Radio Strategies, Inc. team in May, 2007, bringing an extensive and diverse communications background to the company as an assistant account executive. Tyler was promoted to associate account executive in May, 2008.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Tyler Sonnichsen grew up in Connecticut and attended college at Syracuse University. While at Syracuse, Tyler studied television-radio-film as well as Spanish and geography. Among his many pursuits while in college, Tyler served as program director and editor for WERW 1570 AM. Additionally in college, Tyler served as a writer, performer, and filmmaker in a sketch comedy troupe.
Tyler has traveled internationally including spending a spring semester living in Madrid, Spain, where he taught locally and led the student newspaper, Mensajero Madrid. While living in Spain, Tyler further developed his Spanish speaking skills, which are now near-fluent.
Tyler moved to Washington, DC in August, 2005 after spending that summer managing WCLM-FM, a station near Augusta, ME, where he also taught audio production classes. After moving to Washington, DC, Tyler spent more than a year working for a Library of Congress contractor producing books on tape for the blind. Among Tyler’s accomplishments, he became a magazine narrator for the Library of Congress in October, 2006, an accomplishment reserved for a select few.
Tyler has also spent part of his professional career working for a prominent international Disc Jockey booking agency, as well as for a freelance arts publication.
Tyler currently resides in Arlington, Virginia, where he is an avid record collector, and is involved heavily in the local comedy and music scene.
