Managing Director
John Irving is a highly-respected and seasoned veteran of more than thirty-five years in radio news and radio news management. John has had a successful career at nearly every level of radio news working as a reporter, anchor, talk show host, news director, and bureau chief, and has managed a national news organization.
John joined Strauss Radio Strategies, Inc. as Managing Director in November, 2006. Prior to that, he oversaw the operations of more than seventy news bureaus as National Director of News Bureau Operations for Metro Networks, a Westwood One company. John also spent more than ten years as News Bureau Chief for Metro Networks in Washington, DC.
John has been a news director, reporter, anchor, and talk show host for several radio stations including WKYS-FM and WRC-AM in Washington. He has reported for such renowned organizations as the Associated Press, Westwood One, and NBC Radio. Prior to moving to Washington in the 1970’s, John began his career as a news director and statehouse reporter in Vermont.
John is a graduate of Johnson State College and is a Vietnam War veteran.
